Hypothyroidism

Overview
Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland produces insufficient thyroid hormones. These hormones regulate metabolism and energy production. Reduced hormone levels slow down bodily functions. The condition may develop gradually and is more common in women. It can affect heart rate, digestion, and temperature regulation. Symptoms may be subtle in early stages. Untreated hypothyroidism can impact overall health. The severity varies from mild to severe. Long-term monitoring is important for hormone balance.
What Happens During Allergic Rhinitis?
The thyroid gland underproduces hormones (T3 and T4). As a result, metabolism slows down. Energy production decreases, and bodily processes function at a slower rate. This may lead to fatigue, weight gain, and cold intolerance.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis involves blood tests measuring TSH and thyroid hormone levels. Elevated TSH with low T4 confirms hypothyroidism. Additional tests may identify underlying causes.
